5.   NNHS scholarships – Shannon asked if NNHS would consider offering scholarships, perhaps with requirements of being an NNHS member for at least 3 years, been homeschooled, and be a junior or senior.  Last month, the board discussed giving scholarships to specialty camps.

6.   Election of Officers, Appoint Board Members – Jim Poston ran for Chair unopposed.  The board needs to elect the Chair.  Dolisa WInkelman has volunteered to serve as Editor, with technical assistance, and Elizabeth Dahl has volunteered to again serve as Director, with primary responsibility as Program Chair.  These volunteers need to be appointed by the Board.

7.   Electronic newsletter – For the last two months, the electronic newsletter went out by sending a hidden link to the website.  This was intended to avoid the problem of the newsletter being blocked due to size.  Although most members received it, some members complained that they could not find it.  Also, 69 printed newsletters were mailed, including 19 complimentary copies.  The printed newsletter cost averages $1.50 per copy per month.

8.   Membership Fee – The printed newsletter costs about $18 per year per subscription.  We have lost our ability to mail at non-profit rates due to the low number, and printing costs are higher due to reduced volume.  Currently, membership fee is $25, with a $5 discount for electronic memberships.  Proposed membership fee is $30, reflecting increased newsletter costs, with a $15 discount for electronic subscriptions.  The proposed discount is closer to the actual costs.

9.   Activities announcements --
         August 25-26, 2006 – Writing workshop

August 28, 2006 – Not Back to Public School Brunch
