I am a home school mom in Northern Nevada.  I have two children.  Megan is 9 and in fourth grade.  Kevin is 3 and just starting to show interest in letters and numbers.  We use Sonlight curriculum and will be using Core PK and 4 for the 2003-2004 school year.  Hope you enjoy my website!
What will you find contained in the following pages?

1. The writing standards pages are designed to give parents a basic skeleton outline of grade level expectations.  The standards were compiled using several state's standards.    Whenever a standard came up in more than one year, I included it in the earliest year.  Keep that in mind as you are looking the standards over.  Also realize that although a standard occurs in one year, that does not mean that you don't continue to work on it in future years as well.  I tried to make the language easy to understand.
   
2. At some point, every home schooling parent will experience frustrations in the writing instruction process.  Writing strategies are pages that deal with the most common problems and give a variety of solutions.
   
3. What is a writing portfolio?  Why should you implement a portfolio system?  What are the benefits?  The writing portfolio pages will answer these questions and more.
