About the Event

The 2024 NNHS Science and Invention Fair will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024 at 6:00 PM PT at the South Valleys Library located at 15650 Wedge Parkway, Reno, NV, 89511.

Please register by providing the information below by Wednesday, May 15, 2024.

This event is FREE!  Homeschoolers will work on a project of their choice, at home, with parent supervision.

Projects may be set up between 5:30 and 6:00 pm (tri-fold poster, experiment notebook, report, invention).

Awards Ceremony to take place by 8:00 pm. Projects must be removed by 8:30 pm.

This event will showcase inventions and science projects.  Students may enter either an invention or a science project or both.  Separate projects must be entered for each if student(s) wish to participate in both fairs.

Science Project: each student will complete a science project and make a tri-fold poster explaining the project.  A scientific notebook & report may be included.

Invention: each student will create his/her own invention, make a model of it using items around the house and make a tri-fold poster explaining the invention.

Entries will be split into 4 grade groups: K-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12.  Group projects will be entered into the group corresponding to the highest grade of the group entrants.

Entries will be reviewed by judges and fair attendees.  Feedback will be encouraged from everyone, especially peers.   'People's Choice' awards will be given.

By entering the Fair, you agree to allow fair attendees and judges to review your entry and display during the entire fair.

NOTE: Experimenting with vertebrate animals, humans, or animal tissues or organs is NOT recommended.

Please note, due to declining participation in the Western Nevada Regional Science & Engineering Fair, it has been suspended after 50 years of operations. Unfortunately, this means both the resources on their website and the next level of competition is no longer available.
