FIND YOUR STYLE

Now that you're legal, how will you go about homeschooling?

First thing's first, why are you choosing to homeschool? Perhaps you are working toward giving your children a better education than they were receiving in the public education system. Or maybe you want more time to travel or to practice a particular sport or skill your child excels in. Maybe it's for flexibility and freedom in how you educate your child.

What is your goal? Whether you are hoping to help your child catch up, or helping your child reach new heights, you have the flexibility to meet your child's needs with homeschooling.

What is your life and schedule like? Whatever your reason may be, it may help guide you toward a style and curriculum that will suit your needs. Keep these questions in mind as you research homeschooling types.

Some ideas for search terms to get you started are: Unit Studies, Classical Education, Charlotte Mason, Waldorf, Montessori, Unschooling, Thomas Jefferson or school at home. Remember, homeschooling doesn't have to look like you are re-creating public school in your living room. It allows you to be flexible and to "do school" in a totally customized way.
